Interviews

Included below are over 100 interviews with multilingual and aspiring multilingual Wisconsinites who currently are or have in the past been involved with education. While they do not represent every language nor ever city nor every point of view in the state, they are some of the most incredible people with some of the most incredible stories, and I am so excited to share all their wisdom and insight with you all. I am further honored that they were willing to speak with me given the challenges and stressors imposed by covid.

Please note that while each interview is accompanied by a full transcript, and I fully believe in this for accessibility, transcript creation is a painstaking process, especially since spoken speech doesn’t neatly arrange into sentences that we may write. I also tried to uphold the voices of these individuals, meaning beyond cutting out the um’s and like’s (to which I am equally guilty!), I did not heavily “edit” or “proofread” what was said. Thus, if there are any spelling errors or structures that impede understanding or could be misinterpreted, please let me know, but above all, please assume positive intent!

There are lots of different ways the interviewees can be grouped (language, geographic area, position, etc.), but I decided the most helpful would be to at least sort by language. Each link below will take you to a collection with all interviewees that speak/focused on the particular language. These collections can also be accessed by clicking on them in the top left of interviewee pages. If you want to search other keywords, cities, etc., just use the search bar below!
